Phases of the Moon

 

We have been learning about the patterns, cycles and phases of the moon.  We created the phases in the icing of oreo cookies and made Moon Phases books.  The students are noticing the phases in the night sky or in the morning sky on the bus ride to school.  They are also creating the phases in cucumber slices as they munch their lunch.  

Dress Up Party

 

We earned lots of Kindness Hands this month so we voted to have a Dress Up Party!  So much fun.  Of course,  we also voted to have hot chocolate and marshmallows too,

Designing and Building Space Vehicles

These are our finished Space Vehicles.  

We began the project by creating a picture/design of what we wanted our Space Vehicle to look like.  Then we made a list of the materials we would need to build it.

We love our classroom Spaceship and had fun decorating it!  

Out of this World Reading

As we continue our study of Outer Space, we created a spaceship  (aka cardboard box) that we use  to climb inside as we practice our reading to self rotation.  

 

Inside Recess

 

What can you do when it is TOO cold to go outside for recess?  We got out the straws and connectors to see what we could create!  So much fun!!

After reading about constellations, we made edible constellations with pretzel sticks and mini marshmallows.
