This week we explored how oil can help waterproof feathers. We have been learning that birds have a special oil gland and that they oil their feathers to keep them supple and waterproof. We taped 2 paper feathers to a tray. We rubbed oil on one feather and left the other plain. We dropped water from eye droppers on both feathers and noticed what happened.
