Using the information we learned about sails and wind from our sailboat investigation, we created sail cars this time. We each had the same materials: 1 index card, 4 wooden beads, 6 plastic straws and 12 inches of tape to create our cars. All sail car frames had to pass an initial "test" before sails could be added. Once frame tests were completed and sails added, it was time to turn on the fan and see how far our sail cars would travel. Students were able to revise their sails to try to increase how far their car would travel.
